TECHsplore Summer is a short-term study opportunity at the Georgia Institute of Technology for approximately 50 visiting international students. This program is ideal for undergraduate students from any academic discipline who are interested in studying abroad in the United States and for students considering future graduate opportunities at Georgia Tech. Georgia Tech, one of the top twenty engineering schools in the world, is located in the heart of Atlanta—a growing metropolitan city with exciting entertainment and extracurricular opportunities. Students take classes with current Georgia Tech students and engage in a series of events that allow them to explore the city of Atlanta. Students enroll in two Georgia Tech on-campus courses (6-7 credit hours) from mid-June to early August. The application opens December 1 and closes on March 1 for students living outside the U.S. Students already studying at a U.S. institution should apply by April 1. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

Student Requirements:

  • Official Transcript in English, demonstrating:

    • Student is from an invited institution

    • Student is in good standing at home institution

    • Student is currently enrolled at home institution

    • Student has completed at least 4 semesters of coursework

  • English proficiency (90-100 TOEFL or 7.5 IELTS)

  • Permission from student’s home institution

  • $85 non-refundable application fee

The reduced total approximate cost for students coming as part of an exchange partnership that covers tuition and fees is $5,500.

TECHsplore Summer students will live in the Hayes and Gray House, also known as International House, located on East campus.  Each student has their own private bedroom and shares a bathroom with a suitemate. Students have access to a full kitchen, lounge, and study area. Link for move-in information:

Co-Curricular Activities and Excursions

TECHsplore Summer students have regular opportunities for co-curricular and cultural activities which includes orientation, pre-arrival support, on-site support, intercultural programs, and local excursions. Students have the opportunity to meet with graduate admissions to learn more about pursuing graduate opportunities at GT. Students learn more about U.S.A. culture and the city of Atlanta through our planned excursions.Examples of past excursions include GT sporting events, city tours, Skyline Park, Sweetwater Creek, CNN, and World of Coca Cola.

Students are able to purchase meal plans or load BuzzFunds onto their BuzzCard for easy access to dining options around campus. During summer, North Ave Dining gives students and guests access to all-you-care-to-eat dining options that include vegan and vegetarian options, a stir fry station, grill, deli, and a pizza & pasta station. Some nearby restaurants also accept BuzzFunds such as Waffle House, Ray's New York Pizza, Tin Drum Asian Kitchen, and Chuck's Famous. Students also have access to two full-size kitchens and are able to prepare meals in the residence hall.
